Hezbollah claimed it targeted a gathering of occupation troops in the vicinity of the Shoumera barracks this Thursday. The announcement came after Israel declared it was launching preemptive attacks in South Lebanon targeting infrastructure and Hezbollah positions. In addition, Hezbollah confirmed the death of one of its members during clashes with the Israeli military on the southern border of Lebanon. This follows their declaration yesterday of the loss of two other members in South Lebanon, with no further details provided about their deaths. Consequently, the death toll for Hezbollah members in the exchanges of fire and clashes with the Israeli army has risen to 104 since the start of Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 8th.

Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that Israeli artillery shelling targeted the surroundings of the town of Naqoura in the western sector of South Lebanon. Furthermore, there were reports of three Israeli airstrikes around the town of Aitaroun in the central sector of South Lebanon. According to the Lebanese National News Agency yesterday, two people were killed and another was injured by Israeli shelling on a home in the town of Yatar in South Lebanon.

The Lebanese southern border has experienced ongoing reciprocal shelling between Hezbollah and Israel, occurring concurrently with Israel’s continued aggression on the Gaza Strip. This reignites the issue of the implementation of Resolution 1701, which called for a complete halt to all hostilities between Lebanon and Israel in 2006.

Lebanon’s Acting Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, expressed hope that within the next three months, full stability at the borders can be achieved, emphasizing the necessity to spare Lebanon from any significant wars that may occur.
