Lebanese Hezbollah announced on Sunday that it had attacked 10 Israeli military sites across the border. In response, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) escalated aerial and artillery bombardment in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah, in a series of statements, reported targeting a command center near the settlement of Avivim, resulting in both fatalities and injuries.
The group also claimed assaults on gatherings of equipment and IDF soldiers in the surroundings of the Lebanese village of Houla, in the Har Dov area, as well as targeting four Israeli soldiers east of the Sa'sa' settlement in Upper Galilee, confirming direct hits.
Hezbollah went on to report attacks on three IDF positions and the Avivim barracks.
Israel's Channel 12 reported that a building in the Sa'sa' settlement suffered damage after being struck by a missile from Lebanon.
In separate statements, Hezbollah acknowledged the loss of three of its fighters in confrontations with Israeli forces on the same day.
Around 100 Hezbollah members have been killed in clashes with Israel since October 8, while on the other hand, the IDF has admitted to the loss of seven soldiers and additional fatalities among settlers.
Israeli Escalation
Meanwhile, the Israeli military heightened its air and artillery bombardments in southern Lebanon, amid threats to launch a military operation to force Hezbollah to withdraw from the border region and retreat beyond the Litani River.
Late on Sunday night, the IDF announced that one of its warplanes had struck a Hezbollah infrastructure target in Lebanese territory.
The Israeli military stated that the airstrike was aimed at a cell that had attempted to fire an anti-tank missile in the Yaroun area.
Previous to this, Israeli fighter jets had carried out sorties, and artillery targeted the vicinity of several towns.
Last Friday, Benny Gantz, a member of the Israeli Security Cabinet, threatened to "push back Lebanese Hezbollah from the border if the world does not act," following a meeting with representatives from Israeli settlements near the Lebanese border.
Previously, Tel Aviv had called on tens of thousands of Israelis from border towns with Lebanon to evacuate their homes, since the onset of the aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7.
Hezbollah states that its attacks on Israeli positions across southern Lebanon are in solidarity with Gaza.
