An unidentified vehicle struck one of the security cars in President Joe Biden's motorcade as he left his campaign headquarters in Delaware, prompting a swift response from Secret Service agents who quickly moved the President away from the scene.
President Biden and his wife had just left their campaign headquarters after having a meal with members of his campaign team when a vehicle collided with one of the SUVs in the motorcade, approximately 40 meters from Biden.
According to Agence France-Presse, the American president was shaken by the incident while Secret Service agents rushed to him and ushered him into another vehicle, where he was transported away from the building located in downtown Wilmington. He later arrived at his home safely, where a White House official told the agency that the President and his wife were unharmed.
The President's guards immediately approached the silver-colored vehicle involved in the accident, which had Delaware license plates. They drew their weapons and pointed them at the driver, who raised his hands in surrender.
Security personnel also surrounded the cluster of reporters at the scene and one of the officials asked them to vacate the area, stating, "They are clearing out the area; you must leave."
