Military expert and strategist Major General Faez Dweiri stated that recent videos from the Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, confirm that their General Staff operates with utmost efficiency and maintains the upper hand.

During his analysis on Al Jazeera channel, Dweiri highlighted that the latest footage is a clear message indicating that Qassam possesses a command, control, communication, and surveillance system.

On December 18th, the Qassam Brigades released four videos: two featuring epic combat scenes against Israeli vehicles and soldiers in northern Gaza, a third about a tunnel recently discovered by Israel, and a fourth depicting elderly Israeli captives with the title, “Do not let us grow old”.

Dweiri mentioned that the Israeli army only succeeds in bombing homes and killing civilians, critiquing its videos as “a show of power directed towards the Israeli public”, noting they only show half the truth and resemble drills or maneuvers.

Regarding repeated statements by Israeli leaders about Israel's commitment to eliminating Hamas, Dweiri referred to them as populist speeches aimed at the domestic audience by citing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's call to the Mossad chief to meet with mediators for the release of captives in Gaza.

Dweiri affirmed that Netanyahu's government is facing a crisis situation and is attempting to cover up its failures, exemplified by the detection of a tunnel near the border fence more than 70 days after its war efforts.

Weapons and Messages

On the topic of field developments, Dweiri noted that the Qassam Brigades resorted to using the Kornet missile against an exposed Israeli vehicle instead of tanks and armored carriers, which are equipped with the "Trophy" Active Protection System capable of intercepting missiles before they hit.

He pointed out that the Kornet, a Russian-made missile that has been improved upon, is in Qassam’s arsenal. These laser-guided missiles have a range of 5.5 kilometers, and their 27-kilogram warhead follows a non-linear spiraling trajectory.

Regarding the video of elderly Israeli captives, the military expert said that these individuals are among the founders of the Israeli army with a significant record. They are hardline Jews living in settlements around the Gaza envelope, asserting that the impact of the video message could be as significant or greater than the killing of three captives days ago by the Israeli army.
