Bologna pulled off a resounding surprise after they knocked out hosts Inter Milan early from the Round of 16 in the Italian Football Cup.

Trailing by a clean goal to the “Nerazzurri,” the title holder of the past two seasons, Bologna managed to turn the game around with a 2-1 victory, elevating coach Thiago Motta’s team to the quarter-finals of the competition.

The teams ended the regular time without goals, during which Argentina’s Lautaro Martinez missed a penalty for Inter in the 65th minute, prompting them to play extra time across two halves.

During the extra time, Carlos Augusto initiated the scoring for Inter in the 92nd minute, before Bologna dramatically changed the course of the game. Sam Bukema and Dan Ndoye netted two goals for the visitors in the 112th and 116th minutes, respectively.
