Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky vowed on Sunday to "destroy" the Russian forces that have been waging war on his country for two years, revealing plans to produce a million drones that will enter service this year.
In his message for the New Year, Zelensky stated, "Next year, the enemy will suffer the consequences of our domestic production," adding that Ukraine will have a million drones in its arsenal by 2024, in addition to F-16 fighter jets provided by Western allies.
Zelensky's New Year message comes less than 72 hours after Moscow launched a barrage of missiles and drones at Ukrainian cities, resulting in fatalities and injuries in one of the largest aerial assaults since the beginning of the war.
During his televised speech, accompanied by images of artillery and Ukrainian fighter jets, Zelensky commented, "Our pilots are already mastering (the use of) F-16 aircraft, and we will surely see them soon in our skies. So our enemies will see what our anger looks like."
Zelensky urged his Western allies to maintain their support, emphasizing that "Ukrainians are stronger than any plots" and warning against "all attempts to diminish global solidarity and undermine the alliance of our allies."
