The Saudi Ministry of Health has recommended administering the updated COVID-19 vaccine to everyone aged 18 and above, following approximately two weeks after detecting the spread of the new coronavirus variant, JN.1, in the Kingdom.
In a statement on Tuesday evening, the Ministry highlighted that priority should be given to individuals aged 50 years and above, healthcare practitioners with direct patient contact, as well as those suffering from chronic immunosuppressive diseases, including active cancer between the ages of 17 and 50, in addition to pregnant women.

The Saudi Public Health Authority (Weqaya) announced on December 20th that the new variant of the coronavirus, JN.1, has been rapidly spreading, accounting for 36% of cases.
The authority confirmed there is no cause for concern or need to implement stricter measures and that there is no truth to the rumors about dangers or warnings of a new pandemic. Everyone is urged to rely on official and trusted sources for information.
The Public Health Authority (#Weqaya) has monitored the local spread of the JN.1 variant, where its percentage reached 36%, which has not been accompanied by any increase in ICU admissions. "Weqaya" confirms that there is no cause for concern.
