General Doueiri: Israel Seeks Control of Mount Rais for Troop Exit Security

Military Expert General Fayez Doueiri indicated that the Israeli ground forces are attempting to take control of Mount Rais to the north of the Gaza Strip to secure the withdrawal of their troops from the neighborhoods of Ad-Daraj and At-Tuffah as well as some other areas.

General Doueiri added that while the occupation forces have withdrawn from most of the northern regions, they are trying to avoid direct contact with the resistance during their pullout from Ad-Daraj and At-Tuffah.

Israel is maneuvering to move these forces towards Al-Bureij, in the center of the Strip, to reinforce its units engaged in intense fighting there to divide the northern part from the south, as the military expert explained.

Besides separating the north from the south, the occupation forces are pressuring Al-Bureij to force the resistance to shift a portion of their southern forces, which are defending Khan Yunis, to the central region, Doueiri stated.

For weeks, the Israeli forces have tried to isolate Khan Yunis in the south from the rest of the strip but have faced fierce resistance. This has prompted them to exert pressure in other areas in hopes that the resistance might relocate some of its southern troops to other conflict points.

Israel has deployed dozens of vehicles around the outskirts of the Al-Bureij camp and its entrances. However, its forces are still incapable of penetrating deeper into it, and as of this Wednesday, have requested residents to evacuate the Al-Nuseirat camp as it has become an operational area.

The Israeli machinery is heavily stationed around the Qarara area near Khan Yunis, which it has failed to infiltrate several times over the past few weeks.
