Yesterday, the French Air Force, in coordination with the Jordanian military, carried out an operation to airdrop several shipments of food and medical humanitarian aid over the Gaza Strip.
A French Presidential official stated last Friday that the French and Jordanian air forces had dropped 7 tons of emergency humanitarian and medical aid above the Jordanian field hospital, which was established in Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip.
The Élysée Palace clarified to a correspondent from Al Jazeera in Paris that the aid is distributed to all those in need, with the drop and distribution point being in the vicinity of the Jordanian field hospital using two aircraft: one belonging to the French army, and the other to the Jordanian army, both C-130 models.
Meanwhile, the French Ambassador to Jordan, Alexis Lamek, told Al Jazeera that France has collaborated with Jordan in an aerial drop of aid containing medical and humanitarian equipment, intended for the Jordanian field hospital and other hospitals.
He also noted that there is ongoing coordination with Jordan to receive patients from Gaza for treatment in French hospitals.
French President Emmanuel Macron had confirmed that the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains critical, which is why France and Jordan have provided airdrops of aid to the residents there.
Jordan has carried out operations to drop aid over Gaza in the past, but this is the first time Paris has directly participated in such operations.
The dropping of aid from the air comes three months after the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which resulted in more than 22,600 fatalities and approximately 58,000 injuries.
