The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has expressed its profound concern regarding the events unfolding in Yemen and emphasized the importance of maintaining the security and stability of the Red Sea. The Kingdom has called for restraint and the avoidance of further escalation.
According to a statement reported by the Saudi Press Agency, Saudi Arabia is "deeply concerned" with the military operations in the Red Sea and the air raids that have targeted locations in Yemen.
Riyadh's statement has urged for "restraint and the prevention of any escalation given the current regional happenings".
U.S. President, Joe Biden, announced that the U.S. military, under his direction and in cooperation with the United Kingdom, supported by Australia, Bahrain, Canada, and the Netherlands, executed successful strikes against a number of targets associated with the Houthi group, Ansar Allah, in Yemen.
He pointed out that these sites were used by the Houthis to "endanger the freedom of navigation in one of the most important waterways in the world," according to his statement.
Meanwhile, the British government confirmed that the Royal Air Force conducted attacks against military targets used by the Houthis in Yemen.
Al Masirah TV, affiliated with the Houthis, declared that the Yemeni capital, Sanaa, "was subject to American aggression".
Furthermore, Saba Agency, also linked to the Houthis, mentioned that American and British aircraft launched raids on the capital Sana’a and the provinces of Al Hudaydah, Saada, and Dhamar.
Earlier, the leader of the Houthi group, Abdul Malik al-Houthi, had vowed, "whosoever risks military action against his nation will pay the price," underscoring that any American aggression would never go unanswered.
The Houthis have targeted shipping vessels in the Red Sea with rockets and drones, owned or operated by Israeli companies, or carrying goods to and from Israel, in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been under Israeli aggression since October 7th, backed by the United States.
