The Royal Navy has reported that two of its minehunter ships collided with each other on Friday at a port in Bahrain. The Navy confirmed that no one was injured and that an investigation into the incident has been initiated.
A video clip shared on social media shows the ship HMS Chiddingfold reversing towards HMS Bangor, which was docked in the port. The collision’s loud noise was captured in the recording, along with the visible shaking of HMS Bangor from the impact.
Admiral Edward Algreen, commander of operations with the Royal Navy, stated on social media platform “X” that no one was harmed but some damage did occur. He reassured that “a full and thorough investigation is already underway and any necessary adjustments to procedures will be implemented swiftly to prevent such incidents from happening again.”
In the meantime, he continued, “the United Kingdom will persist in playing a leading role in ensuring the security of commercial shipping in the region.”

Strikes Against the Houthis
A week prior, the United States and Britain launched a series of strikes on military sites belonging to the Houthi [Ansar Allah] in Yemen, following up on recent U.S. military actions targeting Houthi positions.
This action is reportedly in response to attacks carried out by the Houthis in the past few weeks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, targeting ships they claim are linked to Israel or destined for it, to support Gaza where Israel has been waging a war since October 7.
In the past week, the Houthis have also begun targeting vessels associated with the United States and Britain, retaliating against the strikes from these two nations against them.
