Aston Villa made a strong statement with a resounding 5-0 victory over Sheffield United, bolstering their chances in the race for the title in the English Premier League. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur missed out on a win in their match against Everton, resulting in a 2-2 draw in the 23rd round of Premier League football.

Villa secured their win within half an hour of the start, with goals from John McGinn of Scotland (12′), Ollie Watkins (16′), Jamaican Leon Bailey (20′), and Belgian Youri Tielemans (30′). Alex Martinez added a fifth goal in the second half (47′). This victory, under the guidance of Spanish coach Unai Emery, lifted Villa to 46 points, level with third-placed Arsenal and second-placed Manchester City, who will face Brentford on Monday to wrap up this round of matches.

Sheffield United’s 17th loss of the season, alongside two wins and four draws, leaves them at the bottom of the table with 10 points.

Tottenham’s young talent, Harry Kane, secured a 2-2 draw against Everton in added time, preventing Tottenham from emerging victorious against their hosts. Everton, fighting to avoid relegation, gained a valuable point, while Tottenham failed to surpass their North London rivals, Arsenal, with 46 points each.

Luton Town shocked Newcastle United with a 4-4 draw, leaving Newcastle in the 9th position with 33 points, just two points ahead of Manchester United, and Luton in 16th place with 20 points.

Brighton recovered from a harsh 0-4 loss to Luton in the previous round, triumphing 4-1 over Crystal Palace. This victory allowed Brighton to reach 35 points, securing the 7th position, while Crystal Palace remained at 24 points in 14th place.

Burnley secured a crucial point against Fulham with a late equalizer, resulting in a 2-2 draw. Burnley remained in second to last place with 13 points, and Fulham temporarily rose to 12th place.
