The Arab Media Forum 2024 launched today in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Tuesday. This forum marks the first gathering of Arab media influencers and content creators.

Organized by the General Secretariat of the Arab League in collaboration with the Arab Satellite Broadcasting Union, the forum covers a wide range of significant topics for discussion, particularly those related to sustainable development plans and strategies in the region.

During the forum’s opening session, Jordanian government spokesman and Minister of State for Media Affairs, Mohannad Mubaydeen, expressed the collective aspiration to collaborate in Arab media to address the numerous challenges facing the Arab world, particularly issues related to injustice, oppression, colonization, and the ongoing occupation faced by our brethren in beloved Palestine.

Mubaydeen emphasized the importance of conveying the plight of the Palestinian people, defending their right to existence, and solidifying the justice of their cause. He stressed the need for Arab media support and clear content from influential colleagues and Arab content creators.

Mohamed Al-Adailah, the President of the Arab Satellite Broadcasting Union, highlighted the importance of uniting Arab media discourse through the application of transparency and neutrality standards, particularly in the face of various crises and issues of common interest.

The forum provides a platform for addressing multiple topics, with a focus on harnessing the expertise of participants to confront the challenges hindering development and its programs, thereby elevating our nations from the bitterness of economic and social realities towards reformation.

Ahmed Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and head of the Media and Communication sector at the Arab League, expressed the desire to enhance the Arab media system’s role in advocating for Arab issues. He underscored the struggle of the Palestinian people in establishing their independent state, with Jerusalem as its capital, amidst the devastating acts of aggression and incursions by Israel.

Furthermore, Khattabi highlighted the growing role of content creators in the digital space regarding political, economic, and cultural matters, particularly among the youth. He cautioned against succumbing to triviality and the pursuit of fame, emphasizing that the nobility of the communicative message relies on credibility and the avoidance of promoting inaccurate or misleading information that infringes on individual and institutional sanctity.

The forum includes sessions dedicated to discussing research papers within several axes that revolve around sustainable development, environmental security, and the role of content creators in spreading awareness and educating different segments of society.

Additionally, the forum will address the current state and importance of cybersecurity, as well as the challenges faced by traditional and modern Arab media due to the proliferation of misleading information and fake news.

The forum will witness active participation from political and media figures, as well as representatives from governmental and private organizations, from various Arab countries.
