A ministerial consultative meeting regarding the Israeli war on Gaza Strip was held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, yesterday evening, Thursday. The meeting was attended by the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates, in addition to the Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization.

The meeting emphasized the need to end the war on Gaza and achieve an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire, ensuring the protection of civilians. It highlighted the necessity to lift all restrictions hindering the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. Additionally, it underscored support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and urged all its supporters to fulfill their role towards the refugees.

The concluding statement of the meeting emphasized the importance of taking irreversible steps towards implementing the two-state solution. It reaffirmed the recognition of the State of Palestine within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with relevant international resolutions. Furthermore, it declared that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian land and rejected all forced displacement operations from the Gaza Strip.

In response to an invitation from Saudi Arabia, the meeting was convened by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, with the participation of the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Emirati Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, in addition to the Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Palestinian Minister of Civil Affairs Hussein Al-Sheikh.

Simultaneously, the Saudi Press Agency reported that Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a phone call from his American counterpart, Antony Blinken, discussing the developments in Gaza and efforts to address their repercussions.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, resulting in tens of thousands of civilian casualties, mostly children and women, along with an unprecedented humanitarian crisis and immense infrastructure destruction. Consequently, Tel Aviv faces charges of genocide before the International Court of Justice for the first time in its history.
