Pages Labeled Palestinian news on social media platforms shared a video today, Saturday, of a doctor defying Israeli bullets to save a wounded man in front of the gate of the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis city in southern Gaza Strip.

The video showed Palestinian doctor Amira Al-Asooly, running bent over, late at night, from the inner gate of the complex towards the outside to save a young man who was shot by an Israeli sniper and was bleeding on the ground.

An Anadolu Agency correspondent reported that Dr. Al-Asooly continued her work without interruption despite being displaced from her home, which was destroyed by the Israeli army in the town of Abasan Al-Jadida, east of Khan Younis city.

Eyewitnesses told Anadolu that Al-Asooly did not hesitate to save the wounded young man despite the danger she exposed herself to, as the Israeli army had previously directly targeted medical personnel treating the injured. Activists praised the courage and bravery of Dr. Al-Asooly.

The Israeli army continues to besiege the Nasser Medical Complex and the Hope Hospital belonging to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society for the 20th consecutive day, amidst gunfire and repeated targeting of their surroundings and any moving objects.

Earlier on Saturday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said in a statement, “Occupation forces are firing intensively towards the gates, buildings, and squares of the Nasser Medical Complex.” It mentioned the martyrdom of one person and several injuries as a result of the intense gunfire towards the complex.

The Ministry indicated that medical teams were unable to move between the complex buildings due to the targeting and expressed concern for the lives of 300 health workers, 450 wounded and sick individuals, and 10,000 displaced persons inside the complex.

The Ministry called on international institutions to enter the complex to protect it and safeguard everyone inside.

Since January 22, the Israeli army has been conducting a series of intense air raids on Khan Younis and its surrounding hospitals, with ground advances by its machinery in the southern and western areas of the city, leading thousands of Palestinians to evacuate.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a destructive war on Gaza Strip, resulting in tens of thousands of civilian casualties, mostly children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian disaster and massive infrastructure destruction, leading Tel Aviv to face charges of genocide at the International Court of Justice.
