The Prime Minister of Scotland, Hamza Yousuf, criticized both the government and opposition in Britain on Monday for refusing to heed the call for a ceasefire in Gaza, where over 28,000 Palestinians have been killed since the continuous Israeli aggression began on October 7th.
Yousuf called on the British government and opposition to “bow their heads in shame, as we witness a massacre where thousands of women and children are being killed in Gaza.”
This statement was made in a post on “X” platform, accompanied by excerpts from a letter sent by the leader of the Scottish National Party, Stephen Flynn, to British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and opposition leader Keir Starmer, urging them to support immediate calls for a ceasefire in Gaza.
Yousuf stated in the post that Starmer and Sunak’s reluctance to call for an immediate ceasefire will never be forgotten or forgiven.
Since October 7th, Israel has been waging a destructive war on Gaza, resulting in over 28,000 martyrs and 70,000 wounded, mostly women and children.
The war in northern Gaza has led to the displacement of most residents to the city of Rafah in the south of the strip, but Israel insists on carrying out a ground operation in Rafah, where over a million Palestinians are crowded.
Israel conducted intensive airstrikes on Rafah last night, resulting in the martyrdom of over 100 Palestinians. It also claimed to have liberated two of its prisoners held in the sector, exceeding 130, according to its military data.
