The military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, known as the Qassam Brigades, has announced the targeting of 22 Israeli soldiers in three separate ambushes in less than 24 hours. In response, the Israeli occupying army acknowledged the loss of two officers, including a battalion commander, a soldier, and the injury of 18 others in confrontations in the Gaza Strip.
This comes as Palestinian resistance forces engage in fierce clashes with the occupation forces in the eastern and western areas of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.
Reports from Al Jazeera correspondent indicate intense firing by Israeli forces around the Nasser Hospital compound in Khan Yunis, targeting UNRWA-run school buildings housing displaced people in the vicinity.
Qassam Brigades reported that its fighters targeted 10 Israeli soldiers from ground zero in the area of Abasan al-Kabira east of Khan Yunis. They successfully detonated an anti-personnel mine targeting an Israeli force of five soldiers holed up in a house in Abasan al-Kabira, resulting in casualties.
The Qassam Brigades also engaged with a seven-member Israeli force at point-blank range east of Khan Yunis, resulting in casualties.
On the other hand, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement, Saraya al-Quds, reported that its fighters set up an ambush in the Ma’an area south-east of Khan Yunis, also resulting in casualties among Israeli forces.
Saraya al-Quds further stated that they shelled an Israeli occupation army command and control location at the advance point in central Khan Yunis with mortar rounds.
Additionally, they broadcast footage showing their targeting of Israeli occupation soldiers and military vehicles west of Gaza City.
The Israeli army confirmed the death of three soldiers, including the commander of Reserve Battalion 630, a deputy platoon leader from the same battalion, and a soldier, during the detonation of a booby-trapped building south of the Gaza Strip the previous night. Several soldiers were also injured.
The Israeli occupation forces reported 18 military personnel being wounded in the clashes in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours.
Israeli media sources confirmed that the army fell into a major and sophisticated ambush carried out by the Palestinian resistance in Khan Yunis, resulting in more than 11 soldiers losing their lives.
Since the beginning of the war on Gaza, the Israeli army has acknowledged the death of 569 of its members and the injury of 2864, including 344 soldiers receiving treatment in hospitals, with 30 of them in critical condition.
