Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian arrived in the Qatari capital of Doha on Tuesday evening to focus on discussions regarding the latest developments in the Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip.
The Iranian news agency IRNA reported that Abdollahian's visit to Doha is to conduct consultations with Qatari officials and to review the latest developments of the situation in Palestine and the Zionist aggression on the Palestinian people in Gaza.
Upon his arrival in Doha, the Iranian minister met with Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political office of Hamas.
Since October 7th, the Israeli occupation has been waging a continuous assault on Gaza, which has resulted in approximately 20,000 martyrs to date, most of whom are women and children.
In addition to the human losses, Israel has destroyed Gaza's health sector, various vital facilities, and has cut off water, electricity, and telecommunication services, displacing residents from their areas.
Abdollahian's visit to Doha coincides with the resumption of Qatari efforts to reach a truce between Hamas and Israel, which involves a potential exchange of prisoners from both sides.
The Qatari efforts previously led both parties to sign a temporary humanitarian truce that began on November 24th and lasted for seven days, during which an exchange of prisoners involving women and children took place.
