The health condition of Al Jazeera reporter Ismail Abu Omar has deteriorated in the past few hours after renewed bleeding in his left leg.
Doctors at the European Hospital in southeast Khan Yunis are scheduled to perform an emergency surgery on colleague Ismail to stop the bleeding. He also requires additional blood transfusions due to the continued bleeding.
The doctors describe the condition of photojournalist Ahmed Matar as critical. He is currently in the intensive care unit on artificial respiratory support after undergoing surgery on his head and having shrapnel removed.
Colleagues Ismail and photojournalist Ahmed Matar were injured last Tuesday in an Israeli drone strike on the Mirage area north of Rafah.
In a related context, Mohamed Al-Astal, the physician of Al Jazeera correspondent Ismail Abu Omar, stated that Ismail was admitted to the intensive care unit due to ongoing bleeding. He added that his condition is critical and that there are difficulties facing the medical team in providing treatment, notably the lack of medical resources.
