Military and strategic expert Major General Faez Aldweiri stated that the Palestinian resistance brigades have skillfully taken advantage of the confusion among the forces of the Israeli occupation army resulting from internal disputes within their war council, which have intensified over recent days.
In a military analysis for Al Jazeera, Aldweiri pointed out that the impact of this disagreement was clearly visible in the northern region of the Gaza Strip, where there was evident disarray in the army's management of the battle amidst a lack of clear political vision and flip-flopping over progressing to the third phase before retracting that decision once again.
He noted that this situation caused confusion among the high-ranking officers and field commanders, leading to issued orders for withdrawal, which were followed by orders to return to action. This state of events was exploited by the resistance brigades, inflicting significant losses on the occupation army's forces in the past three days.
Aldweiri mentioned that the resistance adopted new tactical approaches in terms of coordination and joint action. Recent video clips have demonstrated this through various ambush tactics and methods of luring the enemy, among other strategies.
Speaking about the situation in the south, the military expert indicated that the occupation army has reinforced its presence with an eighth brigade, raising its forces to nearly the strength of three brigades. This implies a dense deployment of vehicles and soldiers; nonetheless, they failed to achieve results commensurate with this show of force and the evident disparity in capabilities between the two sides.
He added that what enabled the resistance to continue fighting against such density was their methodical management of the defensive battle, the ability to capitalize on available resources, and engaging the enemy at the right time and place, thereby consistently surprising the occupation forces.
Aldweiri highlighted a critical turning point in the past 24 hours in the scene of the Israeli occupation army's attempts to develop its military operations. This was evident through the adoption of an American approach previously used in the war against the Islamic State group (ISIS) in both Iraq and Syria, which involves dividing the already-divided.
In this context, he explained that the operations are based on encircling small towns and executing concentrated attacks from all sides, in the hope of achieving incremental successes. This strategy adopts what is known as gradual attrition, besieging the area from all four directions, and gradually expanding its foothold to widen gains.
Regarding the impact of targeting Hamas leaders and the assassination of several of them, notably Salih Al-Arouri, the deputy head of the political bureau of Hamas, Aldweiri asserted that this did not affect the resistance operations, as evident from the field developments.
He clarified that this is natural and expected because those assassinated were not military commanders present in the field in Gaza. The military management of battles in the field in Gaza was conducted by the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing, which operates separately from the political leadership yet coordinates with it concerning the overall framework and management of the overall scenario.
