Amazon announced the development of an AI-powered shopping app assistant named “Rofoz” by the American giant e-commerce company “Amazon“. The purpose of this assistant is to facilitate users in searching for and purchasing products through the “Amazon.com” platform. A trial version of Rofoz has been introduced to some users in the United States, according to the German news agency.

The company stated in a release that the new digital assistant stands out from the current widely-used assistant, “Alexa,” found in smart speakers. Rofoz is capable of answering questions and finding specific items such as a Valentine’s Day gift or a dinosaur toy for a 5-year-old child.

Upon integration into the Amazon Shopping app, Rofoz can be accessed through the search bar, where users can type or ask questions to the shopping assistant. Amazon mentions that the new assistant will provide assistance in product searches, offer shopping plan ideas, or respond to queries regarding specific product specifications.

Amazon’s CEO, Andy Jassy, mentioned that the company is pioneering in providing personalized assistance through AI assistants and making software more aligned with individual preferences over time. Jassy added that he believes this smart assistant has been trained on extensive product catalogs and customer feedback, which will transform how customers explore products they are interested in.

It is noted that the American retail chain “Walmart” has integrated artificial intelligence technology into its own app. Amazon intends to gradually release the new assistant to more users in the United States, but a global rollout timeline has not been specified.
