Belgian Deputy Prime Minister Announces Proposal to Sue Israel at International Court of Justice
Belgium cannot remain silent in the face of the "genocide" threats launched by Israel in the Gaza Strip, announced the country's Deputy Prime Minister. She indicated her intention to propose to the Belgian government to join South Africa in filing a legal action against Tel Aviv at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
Petra De Sutter, a representative of the Flemish Green party in the ruling coalition, stated on the "X" platform that Belgium should not be content with merely watching the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza without taking action.
She urged support for the lawsuit filed by South Africa at the International Court of Justice, which accuses Israel of committing "genocide" against the enclave.
De Sutter previously expressed the necessity of boycotting Israel due to its aggression on Gaza, highlighting that the Israeli military drops bombs on civilians as though it were raining.
At the end of last year, South Africa brought a case against Israel before the United Nations' highest court, accusing it of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip. Hearings in the case are scheduled to be held on January 11 and 12.
