The journalist and photographer Mohammad Salama posted a video on his Instagram page in the early hours of Thursday morning, documenting the Israeli occupation forces targeting the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, south of Gaza. The bombing targeted the orthopedic department of the complex, resulting in the death of a Palestinian and injuries to others.
The bombardment exacerbated the suffering of displaced individuals trapped inside the Nasser Medical Complex, amidst urgent calls for action to rescue them. The Israeli occupation authorities had given them until seven o’clock this morning to evacuate the hospital and flee towards Rafah city.
Dr. Haytham Ahmed had earlier posted a video showing the targeting of the doctors’ room with an explosive shot that injured a doctor who was present in the room.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza had warned yesterday of a catastrophic situation at the Nasser Complex, urging international institutions to intervene to protect the complex and those inside.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Dr. Ashraf Al-Qudra, stated in a press release that the situation in the Nasser Medical Complex is catastrophic and extremely alarming, causing panic among those present.
Since January 22nd, the Israeli army has been carrying out intensive aerial and artillery bombardments on Khan Yunis and the vicinity of the city’s hospitals, alongside a ground advancement of its vehicles in the southern and western areas. This has forced thousands of Palestinians to evacuate in search of a safe place.
