Colorado Supreme Court: Trump Ineligible for US Presidency

The Colorado Supreme Court has determined that former President Donald Trump is not eligible to hold the presidential office under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.

On Tuesday, the court ruled that the former president is ineligible to participate in the Colorado state primary elections for the Republican Party's presidential nomination.

The court added, "Given his ineligibility, it would be unlawful under election law for the Colorado Secretary of State to include his name (Trump) on the list of presidential primary candidates."

The rationale for this decision was Trump supporters' storming of the Capitol in 2021, in response to his presidential election defeat, which he refused to acknowledge.

In response, Stephen Cheung, spokesman for Donald Trump's campaign, condemned what he called the "anti-democratic" decision issued by the Colorado Supreme Court, vowing to challenge it before the United States Supreme Court.

Challenges to this decision can be submitted until January 4th next year.

Cheung stated, "The Colorado Supreme Court issued a completely flawed decision this evening, and we will quickly take this matter to the United States Supreme Court to request a halt to this entirely anti-democratic ruling."
