Yesterday, the Prime Minister of Qatar and Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, conducted a phone call with the interim Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, discussing the recent developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.

Both parties warned of the serious risks of efforts to drag Lebanon into a regional war. They emphasized that the expansion of violence and conflict in the area carries grave consequences for the entire region.

The two nations stressed the urgent need for immediate international community action to halt Israeli violations of international law.

On the previous Tuesday, Israel carried out an airstrike on the southern suburbs of Beirut, which resulted in the assassination of the Deputy Head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), in addition to other leaders and four members of the movement's cadre.

Since the beginning of the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, Hezbollah and the Israeli army have been exchanging intermittent daily bombings, which have led to dozens of casualties and injuries on both sides of the border.
