Federal employees across approximately 20 agencies in the United States are planning a strike on Tuesday to protest the Biden administration’s policies regarding the war in Gaza, as reported by "Al-Monitor".
The group, self-named "Federal Employees United for Peace", consists of dozens of government workers marking the 100th day of the Israeli offensive on Gaza.
The agencies involved include the Executive Office of the President, the National Security Agency, and the Departments of State, Defense, Homeland Security, and Veterans Affairs. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Naval Research Laboratory are also on the list obtained by "Al-Monitor".
The strike is expected to draw participants from various other agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration, the National Park Service, the Federal Aviation Administration, and the Environmental Protection Agency.
The planned strike reflects the growing discontent among American officials over President Biden's administration's refusal to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, while Israeli aggression has resulted in the martyrdom of over 23,000 people, injured more than 60,000, and displaced around 1.9 million Palestinians.
Internal divisions within the administration’s policy emerged publicly when the United States began to increase weapons and ammunition shipments to Israel for use in the war on Gaza.
Earlier, two American officials resigned in protest; one was working in a Department of State office overseeing arms transfers.
Officials from the Biden administration have attempted to address internal frustrations, with Secretary of State Anthony Blinken participating in listening sessions with Arab American, Muslim, and Jewish employees. Since then, other senior officials from the Department of State and the White House have held similar meetings with the staff.
