Fierce Battles in Gaza and Khan Yunis, Israeli Battalion Deputy Killed
Palestinian resistance factions are engaged in fierce battles with the Israeli occupation army in the vicinity of the industrial zone in Gaza City and in several axes of Khan Yunis city. The occupation acknowledged the killing of a deputy commander of a battalion and the injury of a number of its soldiers in the past few hours. It also revealed the killing of 31 of its captured soldiers held by the resistance in the sector.
With the Israeli aggression on Gaza entering its fifth month, Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that fierce battles are taking place between the resistance factions and the Israeli army in the vicinity of the industrial area in Gaza City. The military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), the Al-Qassam Brigades, declared that they targeted two armored personnel carriers with “Yassin 105” shells in the passport area and sniped an officer and a soldier in the university area west of Gaza City.
Additionally, Al-Qassam Brigades indicated that they killed and injured a group of occupation soldiers after targeting them inside a house with a “T.B.G.” shell west of Khan Yunis and destroyed a tank in the same area. The Al-Qassam Brigades also broadcasted footage of targeting its fighters, in collaboration with the Jerusalem Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, targeting Israeli forces with projectiles in the combat zones in Gaza City.
Moreover, the Al-Qassam Brigades aired scenes of what they claimed to be an Israeli march seized during an intelligence operation in Beit Lahia, north of the Gaza Strip. On their part, the Jerusalem Brigades stated that their fighters engaged in fierce clashes with the Israeli army using machine guns and shells in the north, west, and south of Khan Yunis. They further added that their fighters detonated an Israeli military vehicle with a “Tahadi” barrel bomb near Haydar intersection. The Jerusalem Brigades also pointed out that their resistance fighters targeted an Israeli [Merkava tank](/encyclopedia/2023/10/8/%d9%85%d9%8a%d8%b1%d9%83%d8%a7%d9%81%d8%a7-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%af%d8%a8%d8%a7%d8%a9-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%a5%d8%b3%d8%b1%d8%a7%d8%a6%d9%8a%d9%84%d9%8a%d8%d8%a9-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%aa%d9%8a#:~:text=8%2F10%2F2023%20%D9%8A%D8%B9%D9%86%D9%8A%20%D8%A7%D8%B3%D9%85%20%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AF%D8%A8%D8%A7%D8%A9%20%22%D9%85%d9%8a%d8%b1%d9%83%d8%a7%d9%81%d8%a7%22%20%D8%a8%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%b9%d8%a8%d8%b1%d9%8a%d8%a9%20%d8%a7%d9%84%d9%85%d8%b1%d9%83%d8%a8%d8%a9%20%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%ad%d8%b1%d8%a8%d9%8a%d8%a9%d8%8c,%d8%a7%d9%8

Israeli Acknowledgment
On the other hand, the Israeli army announced the killing of officer, Captain “David Shukri,” the deputy commander of the 601st battalion affiliated with the Iron Brigade in the Combat Engineering Corps, during the ongoing battles in the northern Gaza Strip.
This brings the announced number of Israeli officers and soldiers killed to 563 since Operation Guardian of the Walls, including 233 since the start of the ground operation. Additionally, the Israeli army announced the injury of three of its soldiers in the past 24 hours, indicating that 429 officers and soldiers have sustained serious injuries since the beginning of the war.
According to Israeli army statistics, the number of injuries in its ranks since the start of the war on the sector reached 2,828 officers and soldiers, including 1,304 wounded since the commencement of the ground attack. The Israeli occupation army stated in a release that its forces operating in Khan Yunis “managed to eliminate dozens of Palestinian militants through raids, combing, and setting up ambushes with the participation of the air force and navy,” also arresting 80 individuals described as being involved in the October 7th attack.
This comes as the Israeli army continues its military operations in Gaza City, detonating residential buildings in the north and south of Gaza as part of a plan to establish a buffer zone near the security fence.
In a related development, Israeli army spokesperson, Daniel Haggai, announced yesterday, Tuesday, that 31 of the prisoners held in Gaza had passed away. He stated in a press conference, “We have informed 31 families that their detained relatives have passed away, thus confirming their deaths.” Israel claims that 136 of its captives are still held in Gaza.
The Israeli occupation army has been waging a destructive war on Gaza for four months. The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the sector announced on Tuesday that the toll of the Israeli aggression casualties had risen to 27,585 martyrs and 66,978 wounded.
