Gaza Diaries: Dr. Nashwa Sends a Message from Gaza to the World
After days filled with clinic work, attending conferences, and aspiring for success in the field of medicine, the Israeli war on Gaza arrived and destroyed everything beautiful.
I am Dr. Nashwa Salah Ashour, a pharmacist and skincare and laser specialist from Rafah, the Lens neighborhood. I used to own a cosmetic clinic in Gaza, but it was destroyed by Israeli occupation’s airstrikes, along with years of hard work.
Currently, I am living in a displaced tent after the war displaced us and took everything we owned. My daily routine now includes handwashing my clothes and baking bread to stave off hunger and survive. “I distribute the aid we receive through people who follow the clinic’s page,” turning it into a means of collecting donations.
Dr. Nashwa Salah Ashour shared with Al Jazeera Net incidents impossible to forget, such as the day her family’s home was bombed and all the memories went with it.
She added: “The people of Gaza are among the noblest, and as youth, we adamantly rejected the idea of emigrating, so much so that we studied abroad and returned to implement our ideas in our country. Despite the destruction, we will return to rebuild it.”
