The Government Media Office in Gaza announced on Tuesday that the number of journalist martyrs has risen to 97 since the onset of the brutal war on the enclave that began on October 7th.
The Office stated in a press release that the martyrs' toll had increased following the death of journalist Adel Zuarab, who was killed when Israeli occupation forces bombed his family home in the Rafah governorate located in the south of the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, the Media Office in Gaza accused the occupation of deliberately killing journalists to obscure the Palestinian narrative and attempting to suppress the truth, making it challenging to convey news and information to the regional and global public.

Journalists' Graveyard
Days ago, the international organization Reporters Without Borders described the Gaza Strip as a "journalists' graveyard," where Israel deliberately stifles the work of journalists, kills them, and employs various methods to hinder them in the field. This also includes displacement, siege, barring foreign journalists from entering Gaza, cutting off the internet, and the threatening messages they receive.
For the 74th consecutive day, the Israeli military has been waging a devastating war on Gaza. As of Monday, the assault has resulted in 19,453 martyrs and 52,286 injuries, most of whom are children and women. There has also been immense destruction to the infrastructure and an unprecedented humanitarian disaster, according to Palestinian and United Nations sources.
