The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported today, Monday, that several Palestinian prisoners have died under harsh detention conditions at an Israeli military camp in the Negev.

The paper detailed that the army frequently keeps the prisoners blindfolded and handcuffed, acknowledging that many have perished within the detention facility, without specifying their numbers.

Haaretz has yet to clarify the circumstances surrounding their deaths. According to the Israeli military, they are labeled as "terrorists," and the matter is currently under investigation.

The detention center in question, to which the detainees are brought, is located at the "Sde Teiman" base near Beer Sheva. The newspaper pointed out that the ages of the detainees vary, ranging from minors to adults.

Regarding the conditions of detention, it was clarified that the detainees are shackled with chains allowing them limited movement and the ability to eat, while they sleep on thin mattresses laid on the ground across three prison complexes, each housing around 200 detainees.

In another development, the director of Human Rights Watch in Israel and Palestine, Omar Shakir, called for an international response to investigate the war crimes committed by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip.

Shakir stated in a comment to Al Jazeera that "starvation is one of the tools used by Israel in Gaza," demanding an end to the collective punishment inflicted upon the Palestinians.
