The Islamic Resistance Movements, Hamas and Islamic Jihad, condemned on Friday the attacks launched by the United States and the United Kingdom on Yemen.

Hamas stated in a release, "We vehemently condemn the blatant US-UK aggression on Yemen, holding them responsible for its repercussions on the security of the region."

The movement added that "the air and sea bombardment is a crime and brazen aggression against Yemeni sovereignty, and a threat to the security of the region, which is experiencing American and British militarization intended to protect the Nazi Zionist occupation and cover up its crimes against the Palestinian people and the entire Arab region."

They pointed out that the "brutal aggression" on Yemen is an "ill-considered act, under the influence of the will of the Zionist occupation and its extremist Nazi leadership, which will only add to the region's inflammations and tensions, with Washington and London bearing the responsibility for its consequences," in their words.

Hamas emphasized that "the region will not witness security and stability unless the Zionist occupation comes to an end."

The movement urged Washington and London to "review their colonial policies, respect the sovereignty of states, and consider the interests of the Arab peoples, who will not stand idly by in the face of barbaric Zionist crimes."

For its part, the Islamic Jihad Movement said, "This aggression is part of the military umbrella provided by Western colonial states for their military garrisons in Palestine."

The movement emphasized that "it confirms that the American administration is the one leading the war of extermination against the Palestinian people in Gaza," asserting that "the resistance of our nation’s peoples will ultimately triumph."

The Islamic Jihad Movement called on the Arab and Islamic nations to "take action in rejection of the aggression on Yemen, which rose in defense of Gaza and the Muslim sanctities in Palestine."

Early Friday, the White House, in a joint statement by ten countries, announced that "in response to Houthi attacks (..) on commercial ships in the Red Sea, American and British armed forces executed joint strikes on targets in areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen."

The joint statement was issued on behalf of the governments of the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, New Zealand, and South Korea, according to the White House.

Meanwhile, "Al Masirah" Channel, affiliated with the Ansar Allah (Houthi) group in Yemen, declared on its website on Friday that the capital, Sana'a, was subjected to an "American aggression."

Additionally, Saba Agency, associated with the group, reported that "American and British aviation launched raids on Sana’a and the provinces of Hodeidah, Saada, and Dhamar."

Commenting on the attacks, Houthi group spokesman Mohammed Abdulsalam said on Friday that Yemen was subjected to a "blatant US-UK aggression to protect Israel and stop Yemen's operations supporting Gaza."

In a post on the X platform, Abdulsalam added, "They are mistaken if they think they will deter Yemen from supporting Palestine and Gaza; Yemen will continue its religious and humanitarian stance and will stand by Gaza with all its might, and this aggression will only make it stronger and more steadfast."

In solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been under Israeli aggression since October 7 with US support, the Houthis targeted shipping vessels in the Red Sea owned or operated by Israeli companies or transporting goods to and from Israel with rockets and drones.
