The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, condemned the “deliberate” targeting by the Israeli military of a technical team from the Palestinian telecommunications company Jawwal during their work in Gaza on Sunday, resulting in the martyrdom of two company employees.
The movement stated in a press release that “the Israeli occupation targeted a Jawwal telecommunications technical team in Gaza, despite the team having prior coordination for their task.”
The statement added that this “deliberate targeting is a heinous war crime and a treacherous operation that proves the bloodthirstiness of this Nazi occupation, which does not abide by any covenants or commitments.”
Hamas affirmed that “this crime adds to the crimes of cutting off telecommunications throughout the Gaza Strip, and the crimes of blocking water, food, and medicine, all of which exacerbate the suffering of our people.”
The movement called on human rights institutions to document this crime, to condemn and prosecute the criminal occupation army and its Nazi leaders who incite murder and genocide against our Palestinian people.
On Saturday evening, Jawwal announced the killing of two of its employees who were working on repairing telecommunications networks, targeted by direct Israeli action in southern Gaza Strip, marking the second day of the company’s services being cut off from the region.
It should be noted that Jawwal is the largest provider of cellular and internet services in the Gaza Strip and the exclusive provider of fixed-line services there.
On Friday, telecommunications and internet services were cut off in most parts of the Gaza Strip, marking the ninth outage since October 7, 2023.
Since October 7 last year, the Israeli army has waged an aggression on the Gaza Strip, which has left more than 23,000 martyrs and 60,000 wounded.
