The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, criticized the Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant's claims of his soldiers nearing the killing of resistance leaders as "empty threats, reflecting failure to achieve the objectives of the war."
In a statement, the movement described the threat by Galant, who they referred to as a "war criminal," as contentless and a means to market illusory accomplishments. The movement further added that such threats represent his utter failure in achieving any of the goals of his aggression on Gaza, other than the crimes of killing civilians and destroying civil infrastructure.
Recently, the official Israeli radio broadcasted statements by Galant, in which he said that "the leader of Hamas in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, will soon face the guns of the Israeli Defense Forces."
On December 19th, Israel's Channel 13 reported that Israeli military forces "arrived at the location where Sinwar was staying, a short time before he left the place." The channel, citing Israeli officials, mentioned that the military is focusing its operations in the south of the Gaza Strip, specifically in Khan Yunis, to reach the leadership of Hamas, claiming recent progress in the ongoing pursuit operations.
It's important to note that the occupation army has been waging a destructive aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, resulting in more than 20,000 martyrs, most of whom are children and women, over 53,000 injured, enormous infrastructure destruction, and an unprecedented humanitarian disaster, according to authorities in the strip and the United Nations.
