Turkish Warnings
In related news, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan cautioned today about the potential outbreak of war between Lebanon and Israel, emphasizing that such a war, if ignited, would certainly not end swiftly.
Fidan's comments came during his address to journalists at the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responding to inquiries regarding the implications of Tuesday's assassination of al-Arouri in Beirut. Fidan remarked, "If that happens, the war will definitely not end. If there is a desire to resolve the issue, then the focus should be on peace and a two-state solution."
In solidarity with the Gaza Strip, Hezbollah and Palestinian factions in Lebanon have exchanged sporadic shelling with the Israeli military since October 8, resulting in dozens of casualties on both sides of the border.
Since October 7, the Israeli military has waged a devastating war on Gaza, leading to tens of thousands of Palestinian casualties, most of them children and women, and causing unprecedented humanitarian disaster and massive infrastructure destruction, according to the authorities of the sector and the United Nations.
