The Yemeni Houthi group announced on Wednesday evening that American and British airstrikes targeted the coastal province of Al Hudaydah in western Yemen. The area of Baqim in the Saada province in the north of the country was also reportedly targeted.
The Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV channel stated that “American and British aggression targeted the Rass Esa area in the Al Hudaydah province.”
The channel did not specify the objectives and results of the airstrikes. There was no immediate response from the American or British side regarding this matter.
Al Hudaydah is one of the most prominent provinces under the control of the Houthi group, situated on the coast of the Red Sea.
In solidarity with Gaza, which has been subjected to continuous Israeli aggression since October 7, 2023, the Houthis have been targeting ships and cargo vessels in the Red Sea that are owned or operated by Israeli companies, as well as those transporting goods to and from Israel, using missiles and drones.
In an attempt to deter them, the US and British forces have carried out strikes on their sites in Yemen since January 12. The US military alone occasionally launches strikes on missiles it claims are ready to be launched.
With the involvement of Washington and London and the escalation of tensions, the Houthi group has declared that all American and British ships are now considered military targets.
