The Professional Association of German Dermatologists has clarified that psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that is not contagious. The cause of the condition lies in an autoimmune response associated with genetic factors.

The association elaborated that certain triggers can provoke psoriasis flare-ups, including psychological stress, infections, hormonal changes, and smoking.

Symptoms of psoriasis are characterized by specific areas of the skin with redness and silver scales, in addition to severe itching.

The association pointed out that while psoriasis cannot be cured, it can be effectively treated with anti-inflammatory ointments and creams containing urea and salicylic acid, alongside avoiding triggering factors.
