Israeli Channel 12 reports that a sergeant from the Givati Brigade in the Israeli Army has died from a heart attack after the death of soldiers under his command in Gaza.

The news channel also noted that the Israeli military has not acknowledged the death of the sergeant who had been recently discharged from the reserve service.

Relatives of the deceased confirmed that his death was due to "his inability to withstand what he witnessed in Gaza," the channel reported.

Earlier on Monday, the Israeli Defense Forces disclosed that about 9,000 of its soldiers have received "psychological assistance" since the outset of the Gaza Strip conflict on October 7th, with approximately a quarter of them not returning to combat.

According to a report by the army's medical corps, which was covered by Channel 12 and the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, "around 13,000 regular and reserve soldiers in total needed medical treatment or escort at some level during the fighting, with thousands wounded in battle."

Earlier on Monday, the Israeli military announced that 19 soldiers and officers were injured in the last 24 hours in the ongoing clashes within and south of the Gaza Strip, amidst continued bombings.
