The Israeli military has announced the death of a soldier during clashes in the southern region of the Gaza Strip on Saturday. In addition, a military officer and two other soldiers sustained serious injuries amidst the ongoing battles in the central and southern parts of the strip.
Earlier on Saturday, the Israeli military reported 16 military personnel were wounded in the Gaza confrontations. Israeli media outlets also reported an incident where a reserve soldier returning from the Gaza battles shot and killed his friend in Tel Aviv.
The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), claimed responsibility for the casualties inflicted on Saturday, stating they killed and wounded 16 Israeli officers and soldiers, and destroyed several military vehicles partially or entirely.
The Brigades added that their fighters targeted, with mortar shells on six occasions, the field command posts and military assemblies of Israeli forces across different frontlines within the Gaza Strip.

Fierce battles erupted on Saturday between Israeli forces and Palestinian resistance fighters in the northern Gaza Strip, with the occupation acknowledging injuries among its soldiers.
Al-Qassam Brigades reported that resistance factions repelled advancement attempts made by Israeli forces near Jabalia in the east. They also announced heavy mortar shelling against Israeli soldiers northeast of the Al-Bureij refugee camp located in the middle of the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, the Saraya al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, confirmed targeting an Israeli post near the Martyrs’ Mosque in Khan Younis, which was used for command and control purposes.
