Lille halted the winning streak of their guests, Paris Saint-Germain, which had lasted for the previous eight rounds in the French football league, after forcing a 1-1 draw in the dying moments of the 16th matchday of the competition.

The goals of the match came in the second half, with French star Kylian Mbappé opening the scoring for Saint-Germain in the 66th minute from a penalty kick. Mbappé elevated his scoring record this season to 16 goals, thereby strengthening his lead at the top of the championship scoring chart during the current season, pulling away by a margin of 9 goals ahead of his closest pursuer, Nigerian player Akor Adams of Montpellier.

While everyone was prepared for the match to end with a PSG victory, Canadian Jonathan David scored the equalizing goal for Lille in the sixth (final) minute of stoppage time.

With this draw, PSG missed the chance to soar away at the top of the championship, which they have won 9 times in the last 11 seasons. They are now sitting with 37 points, only 5 points clear of their closest chaser, Nice, who suffered a surprising 1-3 loss to their hosts Le Havre the day before yesterday in the same round.

On the other hand, Lille's tally, which hasn't faced defeat in the league since last September, rose to 28 points, securing them the fourth spot in the standings.
