Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has stated that the Palestinian people have been subjected to "genocide" for over 75 years, likening their plight to the Holocaust and the atrocities experienced by the Jewish people during Adolf Hitler’s and the Nazis’ reign.
Speaking to the Mexican newspaper 'La Jornada', Maduro criticized the international community and European countries for their silence on the devastating war waged by Israel on the Gaza Strip for the past three months, which has resulted in Palestinian casualties and bombardments.
He added that there is no doubt that the events in Palestine represent a genocide and called for the international courts to take action to halt the ongoing violence against Palestinians, highlighting the brutality faced by the Palestinian people in plain sight of the world.
Maduro also mentioned that due to the recent events in Palestine, Christmas celebrations did not occur in Bethlehem, the West Bank, the birthplace of the Prophet Jesus, peace be upon him.
Since the "Al-Aqsa Flood" began, Israel has launched a destructive war on the Gaza Strip, which, as of last Tuesday, resulted in the martyrdom of 22,185 Palestinians and the injury of 57,035 individuals, most of whom are children and women. The war has also caused massive destruction to infrastructure and led to an unprecedented humanitarian disaster, according to Palestinian and international reports.
