Milan managed to narrowly escape a potential upset as they turned the tables on hosts Frosinone to emerge victorious with a 3-2 scoreline in the 23rd round of the Italian football championship, Serie A.
Following a 2-2 draw with Bologna in the previous round, the Rossoneri were on the brink of yet another stalemate. However, Serbian substitute Luka Jovic, who netted his fifth goal in the league this season, led them to their 15th win of the season by scoring the decisive goal in the 81st minute.
Veteran French forward Olivier Giroud opened the scoring for Milan in the 17th minute, before Argentine Matteo Sule provided an equalizer from a penalty in the 24th minute. Luka Mažar netted the second goal for the hosts in the 65th minute.
Milan was able to clinch the victory over Frosinone, in a thrilling match that showcased their resilience and determination, with Jovic’s late contribution securing the crucial three points just minutes after his entry onto the field, as the score stood at 2-2.
This win sees Milan strengthen their position in third place, amassing 49 points, trailing Inter, their local rivals, by a margin of five points. It’s noteworthy that Inter is currently leading the league with a postponed match set against second-placed Juventus (53 points) in an eagerly anticipated showdown this Sunday.
On the other hand, Frosinone finds themselves frozen at 23 points, occupying the 14th spot in the standings.
