Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has issued a stark warning today, Thursday, that residents of Jenin and its camp in the northern occupied West Bank are dying due to the inability to access hospitals for treatment. This crisis arises as a result of the ongoing Israeli military operation, now entering its third consecutive day.
The organization reported on its platform that Israeli forces have fired upon one of their ambulances, resulting in injuries to the patient being transported to the hospital. MSF also recounted a heartrending incident from Wednesday, where a 13-year-old boy passed away after his father attempted to carry him on foot to the hospital. This was because Israeli armored vehicles had intercepted ambulances, obstructing their critical path.
“People are dying in Jenin because they cannot reach hospitals due to a new Israeli military operation which has been ongoing for the past two days. Yesterday, a man carried his 13-year-old son to Khalil Suleiman Hospital on foot because Israeli armored vehicles were obstructing ambulances. The boy died upon arrival,” MSF (@msf_arabic) tweeted on December 14, 2023.
MSF added that medical crews treated individuals today suffering from tear gas inhalation and noted that a paramedic was injured by the tear gas. The organization emphasized the urgent need to halt Israeli attacks on hospitals and ambulances, declaring that they lead to fatalities.
The death toll for the occupation operation in Jenin and its camp has risen to 11 martyrs, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
For the third day in a row, the Israeli army continues its incursion into the city of Jenin and its camp. The occupying forces have laid siege to neighborhoods in the camp and taken up positions at the emergency entrances of Jenin’s governmental hospitals: Al-Razi and Al-Amal.
This escalation is part of a broader campaign of raids and arrests carried out by the occupation forces in the West Bank, coinciding with Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7.
