The military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), known as the Al-Qassam Brigades, announced on Sunday the killing of two Israeli prisoners in the Gaza Strip and the serious injury of 8 others during Israeli airstrikes on the region in the last 96 hours.

Al-Qassam further stated that the conditions of the captives are deteriorating as they are unable to receive adequate medical treatment, holding Israel fully responsible for the lives of the injured due to the continued shelling and aggression on Gaza.

Additionally, Al-Qassam broadcasted images claiming the seizure of a reconnaissance drone by its operatives in the northern Gaza Strip.

Throughout the ongoing conflict in Gaza, the Al-Qassam Brigades have repeatedly reported that Israeli airstrikes in the region have resulted in the deaths and injuries of several Israeli captives.

Last Tuesday, Israeli Army spokesman Dani Harari announced the killing of 31 Israeli detainees in Gaza without providing further details on the circumstances of their deaths.

Israel estimates approximately 136 Israeli captives are held in Gaza, while holding at least 8800 Palestinians in its prisons.

Accusations within Israel have surfaced regarding the military’s responsibility for the deaths of several detainees in accordance with the Hannibal Protocol, which mandates sacrificing captives if necessary.

During a week-long humanitarian ceasefire in late November, Hamas released over 100 detainees, including Israelis and foreigners, in exchange for Israel releasing around 240 Palestinian prisoners.

Since October 7th, the Israeli Army has been carrying out aggression in Gaza, resulting in 28,176 fatalities and 67,784 injuries, predominantly among children and women, as well as massive destruction and an unprecedented humanitarian crisis with severe shortages of food, water, and medicine, leading to the displacement of over two million Palestinians, representing over 85% of the population in the region.
