Qatar has announced the successful delivery of medicine and aid to the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, following an agreement mediated between Hamas, the Islamic Resistance Movement, and Israel.

Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on the X platform, “In recent hours, medicine and aid have been delivered to the Gaza Strip, implementing the agreement announced on Tuesday for the benefit of civilians in the strip, including detainees.”

Al-Ansari noted that Qatar, along with its regional and international partners, continues its mediation efforts on both political and humanitarian levels.

Earlier, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the arrival of two aircraft from the Qatari Armed Forces in the Egyptian city of El-Arish carrying aid from Qatar and France to the Gaza Strip.

The two aircraft carried 61 tons of aid, including medicines and food supplies, bringing the total number of aid flights to Gaza since October 7 to 63, with a total of 1958 tons of aid delivered.

These aids come after the successful mediation by the State of Qatar, in cooperation with France, to reach an agreement between Hamas and Israel that includes the delivery of medicine and a shipment of humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip, especially to the areas most affected, against the delivery of medicines required by Israeli detainees in the strip.

In a related context, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz revealed that senior Israeli security officials were not briefed on the details of the agreement under which medicine was being transferred to the Israeli detainees at the resistance in Gaza.

According to the newspaper, which quoted unnamed diplomatic sources, the officials knew about the possibility of transferring humanitarian aid to Gaza without inspection through a statement by Hamas leader Musa Abu Marzouk.

The newspaper indicated that the head of Mossad, who led the negotiations, did not mention the details of the agreement until after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had announced its conclusion.

Gaza’s population is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, with 80% suffering from famine on a global scale, amid ongoing Israeli attacks and the blockade on the strip, according to human rights experts at the United Nations.

The experts point out that the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip are currently facing significant challenges in meeting their basic needs for food and clean water, exacerbating the risk of famine. Pregnant women are facing malnutrition and a lack of healthcare, putting their lives at risk.

Since October 9, 2023, Israel has tightened its blockade on Gaza, depriving 2.2 million Palestinians of water, food, fuel, medicines, and medical supplies.

This comes in the context of the Israeli blockade ongoing for 17 years prior to this war. About half of the Gaza population suffers from food insecurity and over 80% rely on humanitarian aid.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, resulting in 24,448 casualties, 61,504 injuries, and causing over 85% (approximately 1.9 million people) of the population to be displaced.
