An Israeli channel has uncovered a plan by the Israeli army to divide Gaza into clan-controlled areas, with clans taking on the responsibility of distributing humanitarian aid.
Channel "Kan," affiliated with the official Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, reported on Monday evening that "the sector will be divided into areas and regions, where each clan will control a region and will be responsible for the distribution of humanitarian aid."
The channel added that this plan is set to be presented today at a meeting of the security cabinet, noting that these "clans, known to the army and the General Security Service (Shin Bet), will manage civilian life in Gaza for a temporary period (without specifying the duration)."
The channel quoted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying that "there's no point in discussing the Palestinian Authority as part of the administration of Gaza as long as it has not undergone a fundamental change," adding "If they are serious about change, let them prove it first in Judea and Samaria (the biblical name for the West Bank)."
Joint Meetings
Netanyahu's statements came after meetings of Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer in the United States with Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, in which he discussed "a Palestinian body controlling the sector, without going into details."
On more than one occasion since the beginning of the war on Gaza, Netanyahu has confirmed his rejection of the return of the Palestinian Authority to the sector, affirming that Israel will handle the security file, despite Washington's support for Palestinian Authority rule.
Since October 7, the Israeli army has been waging an aggression on Gaza that, until yesterday, has resulted in 21,978 martyrs and 57,697 injured, 70% of whom are children and women, along with massive destruction of infrastructure and an unprecedented humanitarian disaster, according to the sector's authorities and the United Nations.
