Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi issued a stark warning on Sunday, stating that 2024 could be the "year of death" if the agenda of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not countered in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
Safadi expressed his concerns through a tweet from his official account, reflecting on the events of 2023. "Israel subjected Gaza to horrific war crimes, and the Security Council failed to act to prevent this," he stated, highlighting what he sees as the international system's affliction with double standards.
The Jordanian minister pointed out that Netanyahu aims to keep Gaza volatile while igniting the West Bank and Lebanon, drawing the West into war to salvage his professional career. There has been no comment from Netanyahu's office in response to Safadi's statements.
Previously, in November, Safadi accused Netanyahu's government of "crossing all red lines," warning of the consequences of the occupation's crimes in Gaza. He noted that Tel Aviv's actions in the West Bank could lead to an explosive situation there.
Since October 7th, the Israeli military has carried out an aggressive campaign against Gaza, resulting in 21,822 martyrs and 56,451 injuries, along with unprecedented humanitarian disaster and massive damage to infrastructure, according to the authorities in the sector and the United Nations.
