Scottish Prime Minister Hamza Yousaf stated that senior ministers in the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's comments regarding the relocation of Gaza residents to other countries and reoccupation of the sector constitute the traditional definition of ethnic cleansing.

During a television interview on Friday, Yousaf added that Israeli statements should be condemned and rejected, particularly in light of the worsening humanitarian tragedy in the Gaza Strip.

This statement follows remarks by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, which called for the forced displacement of Gaza's population to countries accepting them as refugees and the rebuilding of settlements in the area.

Yousaf has repeatedly called for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and has condemned the Israeli military's massacres in Gaza, notably the Jabaliya massacre in the northern part of the sector that resulted in the death and injury of hundreds of Palestinians.

He has also demanded that the international disregard for human life and the killing of children in the sector be condemned.

It’s worth mentioning that the parents-in-law of the Scottish Prime Minister were stuck in Gaza when the war broke out on October 7 last year. They managed to leave through the Rafah Crossing during the temporary humanitarian ceasefire on November 24.
