Tunisia’s national football team displayed improved performance, but they had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Mali in the second round of Group E matches at the Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast.
The Tunisians entered the game aiming to reconcile with their fans after a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Namibia in their opening match of the tournament. Despite a strong start, they conceded an early goal in the 10th minute by Lassine Sinayoko.
Mali’s lead did not last long as Hamza Rafia leveled the score in the 20th minute, following a sequence of well-coordinated passes among the Tunisian players.
Throughout the first half, Tunisia exchanged attacks with Mali, before the superior physical and technical prowess of their opponents became apparent in the second half.
With this draw, Mali moved to four points and top position in the group, while Tunisia secured their first point. South Africa and Namibia, also in the same group, are set to face off later on Sunday.
