A British investigative newspaper reported on Saturday that the Royal Air Force has conducted 50 reconnaissance flights over the skies of the Gaza Strip to provide intelligence information to Israel.
Declassified UK, a research organization that focuses on the activities of military and intelligence institutions, added that aircraft had taken off from the British Akrotiri Air Base in southern Greek Cypriot administration. They have conducted 50 reconnaissance sorties over Gaza since the beginning of last December, averaging one flight per day, to deliver intelligence to Israel.
The newspaper mentioned that the British military used Shadow R1 aircraft, which specialize in reconnaissance and surveillance, in their aerial missions.
It was clarified that the first British aerial reconnaissance over Gaza commenced on December 3rd last year, with three sorties being flown on January 3rd of this year, each lasting six hours.
On December 3rd last year, the British Ministry of Defence stated in an announcement that reconnaissance flights will be conducted over Gaza “to provide intelligence information to Israel to support prisoner rescue operations in Gaza.”
It is worth noting that Declassified UK had previously reported on November 26th that American and British military planes had taken off from Akrotiri Air Base to assist Israel. Between October 13th and 26th, there were 33 aerial military flights between the base and Tel Aviv, including C-17A cargo aircraft.
