Israeli Channel 13 has reported that senior officials in the administration of US President Joe Biden have reprimanded Israeli officials due to the ongoing rise in civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip.
According to the channel, the American administration has informed the Israelis that their statistics indicate that around 150 civilians are still being killed daily in Gaza.
The report also mentioned that the Americans have also informed Israel that the number of non-combatant civilian casualties remains high despite the supposed shift to a less intense phase of fighting.
In a related context, John Kirby, the Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the White House, stated that the number of civilian casualties in Gaza is very high. He emphasized that the American administration continues to urge the Israelis on the necessity of conducting their operations with more caution and less harm, as he put it.
The American official added that post-war Gaza would remain and would not be reoccupied, pointing out that a two-state solution is not only in the interest of the Palestinian people but also in the interest of the Israeli people and the region.
American media reports in the past days have referred to American pressure exerted on Tel Aviv to transition to less intense combat operations, which reflects on the reduction in the number of high civilian casualties.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces have been waging a devastating war on Gaza, which, to date, has resulted in 24,620 martyrs and 61,830 injuries, causing more than 85% (about 1.9 million people) of the residents to be displaced from the territory.
